Female Health Care

Ayurveda offers a comprehensive and natural approach to women’s health by addressing physical, mental, and hormonal well-being through holistic methods. It provides safe and effective treatments for various gynecological conditions by balancing the doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), detoxifying the body, and rejuvenating the reproductive system.

Key disorders we treat at Rasgandha Ayurved clinic :-

 *PCOD:-*

Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) is a common hormonal disorder affecting women of reproductive age. In Ayurveda, PCOD is not described as a single disease but is understood through the imbalance of doshas, dhatus (tissues), and agni (digestive/metabolic fire).

 *Ayurvedic Understanding of PCOD*

PCOD is primarily a Kapha-Vata disorder with the involvement of Medo dhatu (fat tissue) and Artava dhatu (reproductive tissue). The accumulation of Kapha and Meda causes the formation of cysts in the ovaries and disrupts the normal functioning of the menstrual cycle.

Kapha dosha contributes to sluggish metabolism, weight gain, and cyst formation.

Vata dosha disturbs the movement of hormones and menstrual flow.

 *Symptoms*

Irregular or absent menstruation (Artava dushti)

Excessive facial or body hair (due to aggravated Pitta)

Weight gain and obesity (Medo dhatu vikriti)

Infertility or difficulty in conception

Ovarian cysts (Granthi in Artava vaha strotas)

 *Treatment protocol for PCOD :-*

  1. Shodhana (Detoxification)

Vamana (therapeutic emesis) – to eliminate excess Kapha.

Virechana (purgation therapy) – to cleanse Pitta and support liver function.

Basti (medicated enema) – regulates Apana Vata for hormonal balance and menstrual health.

Udvartana (dry powder massage) – effective for obesity and hormonal imbalance.

  1. Herbal medicinal formulations to restore natural hormonal imbalnce.

 *3. Rasayana (Rejuvenation)*

Use of tonics and adaptogenic herbs to restore tissue health and promote fertility.

  1. *Lifestyle & Diet (Ahara-Vihara)*

Avoid heavy, sweet, fried, and dairy-rich foods.

Follow a light, warm, Kapha-pacifying diet with herbs like cumin, turmeric, fenugreek.

Regular exercise, yoga, and meditation.

Maintain proper sleep and daily routines.

 *Infertility – An Ayurvedic Perspective*

In Ayurveda, infertility is referred to as Vandhyatva. It is defined as the inability to conceive even after regular, unprotected intercourse for a year or more. Ayurveda views fertility as the result of a harmonious balance between physical health, mental well-being, and spiritual awareness.

*Common  Causes of Female Infertility :-*

Vata imbalance: Obstructs the movement of ovum or menstrual flow.

Kapha aggravation: Causes blockages like cysts or fibroids.

Pitta imbalance: Affects hormonal function and ovum quality.

Agnimandya (Low digestive fire): Leads to poor nourishment of reproductive tissues.

Stress and emotional imbalance: Weakens the mind-body connection and affects ovulation and hormonal rhythm.

 *Treatment protocol for Infertility*

  1. *Shodhana (Detoxification Therapies)*

Virechana – Pitta cleansing for hormonal balance.

Basti – Especially Uttarbasti, which is highly effective in cleansing the uterus and reproductive channels.

Nasya – For hormonal regulation and stress relief.

 *2. Shamana (Pacifying Therapies)*

Herbal formulations to strengthen reproductive tissues and correct dosha imbalance.

 *3. Rasayana (Rejuvenation)*

Rasayana therapy nourishes the Shukra dhatu (reproductive tissue), enhances vitality and improves the quality of ovum and uterus.

 *4. Diet & Lifestyle*

Warm, nourishing, fertility-supportive diet (ghee, milk, dates, almonds).

Avoidance of stress, excessive physical exertion, and exposure to toxins.

Incorporation of Yoga, Pranayama, and meditation to support mental and emotional wellness.

 *Hypothyroidism*

Hypothyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland fails to produce sufficient thyroid hormones, leading to a slowdown of metabolism. In Ayurveda, it is not described as a specific disease but is understood through dosha imbalance, particularly involving Kapha and Vata, along with dysfunction of Agni (digestive/metabolic fire) and Strotas (body channels).

 *Ayurvedic view:-*

Kapha dosha dominates due to sluggish metabolism, weight gain, and mental fog.

Vata dosha is responsible for dryness, fatigue, and irregular menstrual cycles.

Agnimandya (weak digestive fire) leads to formation of Ama (toxins), which blocks the proper functioning of the thyroid.

The condition is seen as “Galaganda” in some cases (neck swelling/goitre), and as Dhatvagnimandya (weak tissue metabolism) affecting the Rasa and Meda dhatus.

 *Common Symptoms*

Fatigue, lethargy

Weight gain

Dry skin and hair fall

Depression or mental dullness

Constipation

Irregular or heavy menstruation

Infertility

Cold intolerance

 *Ayurvedic Treatment Approach*

  1. Shodhana (Detoxification)

Virechana (Purgation) – to eliminate accumulated Pitta and clear liver & hormonal pathways.

Basti (Enema therapy) – especially helpful to correct Vata and improve metabolism.

Langhana (lightening therapies) – to reduce Ama and excess Kapha.

 *2. Shamana (Pacification)*

Use of herbs and classical formulation to balance the doshas,  strengthening metabolism, and rejuvenating the thyroid gland naturally.

3 *. Rasayana (Rejuvenation)*

Rasayana herbs like Amalaki, Guduchi, and Shatavari help nourish tissues and support hormonal functions.

 *4. Diet & Lifestyle*

Avoid dairy, gluten, soy, refined sugar, and excessive salt.

Include metabolism-boosting spices like turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper.

Practice daily yoga, pranayama, and meditation to reduce stress and improve thyroid function.
